Organised by the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), CHAIN’s coordinating organisation, the Summit brings together clinicians, researchers, engineers and digital health innovators. Its programme explores the practical steps needed to bring AI into cardiovascular care, from data quality and clinical validation to integration into workflows and responsible adoption.
The Summit has strong connections with the CHAIN consortium. Its leadership includes Folkert Asselbergs, CHAIN’s Scientific Coordinator and Chair of the ESC AI Gateway (AUMC), alongside Nico Bruining, Programme Co-Chair (EMC). Their involvement reflects the contribution of CHAIN’s core partners to shaping the European cardiovascular AI agenda.
At the EU projects' booth, participants will be able to discover CHAIN’s objectives, its six cardiovascular use cases and shared approach to testing, validating and deploying trustworthy AI. The showcase offers an opportunity to introduce the project to potential collaborators and exchange perspectives with professionals working on similar implementation challenges.
The event is part of the European AI Innovation Month, which runs from 14 October to 17 November 2026. This European initiative connects events showcasing AI innovation and adoption across sectors, culminating in the Apply AI Summit in Brussels.
The Summit is also listed in the Apply AI Alliance calendar on Futurium, connecting it with the wider European community working on AI adoption.
As an EU4Health co-funded flagship initiative under the Safe Hearts Plan, CHAIN brings a cardiovascular perspective to this wider effort. Its participation in Basel highlights the ESC’s role in connecting European policy ambitions with clinical expertise and the practical needs of healthcare.
